What are the prices for Woodward at Copper summer camp and when are they offered?

How do I book a Summer Camp?
• Summer camps can be booked via the Call Center at 1-888-350-1544 or in person at the Barn.

What Happens After I book a Summer Camp?
• A packet with all the required waivers and information about what your child will need, as well as rules and regulations, will be mailed out to you.  You will need to fill out all the appropriate information and mail it back.
• Your Camper is ready to show up at the Edge on their start day!  

What is included in the price of the Camp?
• Week Long Camps without lodging – Coaching on the snow and in the Barn, lunch, numerous activities at Copper
• Week Long Overnight Camps – Day and night counselors, coaching, 3 meals a day, accommodation in the EDGE, numerous activities at Copper and elsewhere
** Transportation to the Camp and from Denver is not included

Will there be someone from Woodward at the DIA airport?
There will be a Woodward at Copper employee stationed at DIA to help ensure campers get on their appropriate shuttle.

Will the camper be chaperoned on the drive up to Copper Mountain?
• No, the campers will travel in shuttles supervised only by the driver.

What are the requirements for my child to attend Camp?
• Session 1 is for Adults (18 and up) as well as Teams.  Team coaches are responsible for their team kids during free time and in the evening.
• For Sessions 2-5 your child must be at least 10 years of age
• Session 6 is a shortened week primarily for kids 8 to 12 year olds
• Your child must be at an intermediate terrain riding level
• You must pay fully in advance via credit card

Can I cancel once I Book?
• If you cancel outside of 30 days you will receive a 90% refund; if you cancel within 30 days no refund will be given.
• If a camper is hurt within the duration of their camp stay a pro-rate will be available.  This will be determined the Barn Foreman or a Manager.

Is there a chance camp will be canceled?
• Yes, Woodward at Copper requires a minimum of 40 campers to operate camp.

Where will campers stay during the Overnight camp?
• Lodging is provided at the EDGE
• Lodging will be in dormitory style rooms with 2 people per room
• The room will have 2 single beds, a television, a small desk, cubbies and hangers for their clothing, as well as a bathroom
• The room will not have a fridge or microwave in it
• Girls and boys will be split on different floors of the EDGE
• Roommate will be determined on age level – requests may be made if 2 friends want to room together (as long as they are the same gender)
• Pets are not allowed to accompany the camper
• If you want something besides the EDGE for your camper you would book the week camp rate without lodging, and book your lodging separately

Who will they be Training With?Pro Eric, backside slide
• A Woodward at Copper coach or professional Skier or Snowboarder
• Groups will be dependent on age, gender, and most importantly skiing and riding level

What will they be eating?
• Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be kid friendly fare: fruit, cereal, burgers, hotdogs, tacos, salad bar, pizza, etc.
• Vegetarian options can be accommodated but not vegan
• Snacks will not be provided, but the local market and restaurants will be open.

Who will be watching the Campers during sessions 2-6?
• There will be coaches and counselors who will be responsible for a particular group of kids each week.
• The coaches will accompany the campers during the day on the hill and to the Barn and help with activities and accompany the campers on their free time when they are not being coached. 
• The counselors will be staying the night at the EDGE and ensuring the night goes smoothly.
• The counselors are first aid certified; the Coaches are not, but we will have Ski Patrol on site as well as Woodward at Copper’s athletic trainers.

Will the Campers be Unsupervised at any time?
• Unsupervised times are extremely limited.  There will be a “Campus Map” to explain where campers may go unsupervised at Copper Mountain (i.e. around Center Village).  However, it is mandatory that counselors know where a camper is going at all times.
• Leaving the “Campus Map” territory will result in being sent home

How much of the Camper’s Time will be spent working on skiing/riding?
• 3-4 hours a day will be spent in the Barn
• 2-3 hours a day will be spent at Catalyst which is Copper’s on-snow terrain park (a bus will take them up the mountain)
• Campers will also have recreational free time in which they may select even more time training @ the Barn or other recreational activities

What will happen if my child is Injured?
• If your child is injured at Catalyst (on mountain), Ski Patrol will come and assess the injury
• If your child is injured at The Barn an athletic trainer will assess the injury
• If your child needs to go to the hospital they will be taken to Emergency at St. Anthony’s hospital in Frisco
• If the injury is very serious 911 will be called
• You will be contacted immediately

Am I required to have a certain type of medical insurance?
• No, but you will be required to sign a Medical Consent to Treat waiver should your child be injured.
• All participants are required to carry their own medical insurance as well as the signed consent to treat form.

Can I visit or watch my camper?
• Parents will be able to visit and stay in the Village since it is open to the public
• Parents will not be able to watch anything at Catalyst, due to limited transportation up the mountain
• Parents will be able to go into the Barn and watch from the designated viewing areas

What about skateboarding and BMX?
• The campers will not be coached in skateboarding, bmx or in-line skating, but they will have unlimited access to Woodward’s skatelite features.
• Skateboarding, bmx and in-line skating will be allowed in the Copper Village.

What will Campers do at night?
• Ski, snowboard, skateboard and BMX movies will be viewed regularly
• Village @ Copper planned night activities
• Free time at the Woodward at Copper Barn
• Big Air, Rail jams

Which Activities Will Be Free?
• Unlimited access to bungee jump, mountain biking, bumper boats, mini-golf, skateboarding at the Cage, video editing at the Cage, hiking, tour of skate parks, and free time at the Barn
• Five sessions of go-karting per week.

How Can I give my child Extra Money?
• You can purchase Experience Copper gift cards for a set amount of money which will be good anywhere at Copper.  Keep in mind that if a camper loses this card it is not replaceable!
• The Camper will be given a credential which you may attach your credit card to.  The credential will have no monetary limit.

• Campers are welcome to film one another – although they can not use their film for any business purpose.
• As a guardian you will be signing a liability waiver which allows Woodward at Copper to film your child as well. 

How Can I stay in Touch with my Camper?
• Campers will have free internet access at the EDGE.  A few computers are available at the Edge or they may bring their laptop.
• It is recommended that Campers bring their cell phones because there is only one pay phone at the EDGE.
• Campers are not allowed to have their phone turned on during coached sessions
o Training facilities that fall under the coached sessions include the Barn and Catalyst Terrain Park.
• You may call the Barn at 1-800-458-8386, extension 83400 or 970-968-3400 to leave a message for your child
• You may also send packages to your child via FedEx or UPS at the Edge: 51 Beeler Place, Copper Mountain CO, 80443

Can my Camper Drive up /Bring Their Car?
• There will be free parking at the Alpine Lot.
• Campers under 18 will be required to turn in their car keys upon arrival and may not drive off campus during their stay.
• All camp and recreational activities at Copper are within walking distance.

Checklist for what the Camper Should Bring
• Casual Clothes
• Gym clothes – loose fitting shorts and/or sweats, long sleeves
• Shoes
• Outerwear
• Goggles
• Gloves
• Helmets – required
• Snowboard or Ski Socks
• Snowboard or skis – no rentals
• Snowboard or ski boots– no rentals
• Bindings– no rentals
• Elbow pads – required to skate if under age of 18
• Knee pads - required to skate if under age of 18
• Skateboards – if skating during camp
• BMX bikes  - if biking during camp
• Shin guards if biking during camp
• In-line skates– if skating during camp
• Wrist guards – recommended but not required
• Toiletries – tooth brush, tooth paste, deodorant, shampoo, and soap
• Sunscreen
• Water bottle
• Lotion – it can be dry at Copper Mountain’s elevation 9600 ft.
• Sleeping bag and pillow – strongly recommended
• Glasses and/or contacts
• Lockable suitcase or duffel bag - recommended
• NO Personal valuables should be brought to camp.  In the camp atmosphere, where there are so many youngsters, campers tend to forget, lose track of or misplace many things.
• We strongly recommend labeling all personal items.  Woodward at Copper is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Woodward at Copper Camp Rules and Regulations
• Here are a couple of the big “No’s” if a camper violates any of these they will be sent home
• No drinking, drugs, tobacco, etc.
• No fighting or harassment of any sort (including sexual harassment, i.e., unwanted advances toward other campers)
• No leaving camp boundaries (which includes going into unnecessary buildings, leaving rooms at night, going anywhere without staff permission)

What Happens After I book With You?

  • Today I will set up the Camp Week for you.  I will take down your personal information and take full payment.
  • During the month of April a Call Center representative will contact you to check on details and inquire further about additional activities the Camper is interested in.  This will also be a great opportunity for you to address any additional concerns or questions you may have. 
  • A packet with all the required waivers and information about what your child will need, as well as rules and regulations, will be mailed or emailed out to you.  You will need to fill out all the appropriate information and mail it back.
  • Your Camper is ready to show up at the Edge on their start day!   

What is included in the price of the Camp?

  • Week Long Day Camps – coaching, 2 meals a day (lunch and dinner), skate trips around Colorado, numerous recreational activities at Copper
  • Week Long Overnight Camps – counselors, coaching, 3 meals a day, accommodation in the EDGE, skate trips around Colorado, numerous recreational activities at Copper

** Transportation to the Camp and from Denver is not included

** The Camper will also be leaving with a Copper Credential Media Pass; any additional logo wear can be purchased through the Woodward at Copper Cage

Will the camper be chaperoned up to Copper Mountain?

  • There will be a Woodward at Copper employee stationed at DIA to help ensure campers get on their appropriate shuttle, but campers will not have a chaperone on the shuttle from DIA up to Copper Mountain

What are the requirements for my child to attend Camp?

  • 6/17-6/20 is for Adults 18 and up (no counselors)
  • For most other sessions your child must be between 10 and 18 years of age
    • Except Summer Camp Sessions 7/18-7/25 (shortened Grom week) these will be for 8 to 12 year olds.
    • Camp Managers may make exceptions for participants under 8 and over 18
  • You must pay fully in advance via credit card

Can I cancel once I Book?

  • The cancellation policy will be if the guest cancels outside of 30 days they receive a 90% refund, within 30 days no refund will be given. One off circumstances may be dealt with by a Camp Manager

Is there a chance camp will be canceled?

  • Yes, Woodward at Copper requires a minimum of 10 campers each session to operate skate camp.

Where will they be lodging during their Overnight camp stay?

  • Lodging is provided at the EDGE.
  • Lodging will be in dormitory style rooms with 2 people per room and a bathroom in each room.  Most other camps can have up to 15 campers in a single room.
  • The room will have 2 single beds, a small desk, cubbies and hangers for their clothing, as well as a bathroom.  Most other camps only have a couple bathrooms per floor instead of 1 for every 2 campers.
  • The room will not have a fridge or microwave in it.
  • Girls and boys will be split on different floors.
  • Roommates will be determined by age level – requests may be made if 2 friends want to room together (as long as they are the same gender).  This can be done with the pre-arrival packet that will go out in May.
  • Pets are not allowed to accompany the camper.
  • If you want something besides the EDGE for your camper you would book the day camp rate, and book your lodging separately.

Who will they be Training With?

  • A Woodward at Copper coach.
  • Groups will be dependent on age, gender, and most importantly skateboarding ability level.  Groups will be split for 10 or more campers.

What will they be eating?

  • Breakfast has generally consistes of fruit, cereal, breakfast burritos, and breakfast bagels.
  • Lunch and dinner is generally kid friendly fare: pasta, lasagna, deli sandwiches, salad bar, chicken fingers, peanut butter/jam sandwiches, pizza, hotdogs, and tacos.
  • Vegetarian options can be accommodated but not vegan.

Who will be watching the Campers?

  • There will be night counselors  and coaches who will remain the same during the duration of the camp week.
  • The coaches will accompany the campers during the day and during their free time when they are not being coached. 
  • The night counselors will be staying the night at the EDGE and ensuring the night activities and lights out hours go smoothly.
  • Woodward at Copper will have athletic trainers on campus.

What Happens if my Child Gets Homesick?

  • There will be camp employees in charge of homesick children.  They will take the appropriate measures to try and resolve the situation.

Will the Campers be Unsupervised at any time?

  • No, every camper will be assigned to a coach during the day and a counselor at night.
  • There will also be a “Campus Map” built within Copper Mountain where Campers can not leave without permission from a camp employee.
  • Leaving the “Campus Map” territory will result in being sent home with no refund.

How much of the Camper’s Time will be spent skateboarding?

  • Skate campers will be able to go on skate park tours around Colorado.  These tours will occur every day within each camp session.
  • 3-4 hours a day will be spent skateboarding the features in the Barn.
  • Each day the camper will also have recreational free time in which they may select even more time skating @ the Barn or hang out in the camp lounge known as the Cage.

What will happen if my child is Injured?

    • No fighting, aggressive, threatening or bullying behavior, or harassment of any sort (including sexual harassment, i.e., unwanted advances toward other campers, employees, or Copper Mountain Resort guests). 
    • No stealing.  Any items that are found will be confiscated and result in calls to the appropriate law enforcement officials (if warranted).

No graffiti or vandalism of any kind.

Cheer Camp

What is Woodward at Copper Cheer Camp?

  • Woodward at Copper Cheer Camp offers two programs:
    • Team Cheer – a program for a pre-existing team of four or more cheerleaders (2 bases, 1 backspot and 1 flyer) who want to improve both tumbling and stunting skills.
    • Cheer tumbling – a unique program that utilizes tumbling and trampolines to teach the acrobatic skills required by today’s cheerleaders.

  • Cheer campers will spend 4 hours in the Barn progressing their skills.  The Barn contains 6 Olympic grade trampolines, a spotting harness and bungee system, spring floor, tumble trak, and foam pits.
  • Each afternoon the camper will also have recreational free time in which they may work on stunting, strength and balance skills or hang out in the camp lounge known as the Cage and work on arts and crafts, or enjoy Copper’s recreational activities like bumper boats, miniature golf and rock wall.
